Salt Fire Update for July 7, 2021

Shasta-Trinity National Forest, July 7, 2021 — The Salt Fire is currently 12,546 acres and containment is now at 25%. There are nearly 1,600 fire personnel assigned to the Salt Fire. Evacuation orders and warnings remain in place for communities near the fire. The addition of a mobile retardant base will assist firefighting aircraft with fire containment. Please use caution traveling Interstate 5.

Additional resources continue making progress to contain the Salt Fire. Growth on the perimeter of the fire was minimal Tuesday, while crews worked to monitor and control heat within the interior. Crews continue working to protect structures and the I-5 corridor. Firefighters continue direct-attack operations to further strengthen containment lines in the northwestern fire area. Bulldozers are working to construct indirect firelines from Crane Mountain, to Green Mountain, and south to Bucks Peak, to Salt Creek.

Road Closures:

• Gilman Road eastbound from I-5 to Top of the Hill Road

• Dog Creek Road at the intersection with Fenders Ferry Road

• Gregory Creek Road at the I-5 overcrossing

• Statton Road at Salt Creek Road

• Riverview Drive north of Bobkat Lane
