Middle Fork Complex Daily Update Sept. 25, 2024
Middle Fork Complex: 61,484 acres, 86% completion, 516 Personnel
Snag Fire: 33,436 acres, 90% completion, 169 Personnel
Goat Fire: 26,467 acres, 43% completion, 49 personnel
Wednesday will bring stronger ridgetop winds and slightly lower rela ve humidity. Night me recovery will be good with relative humidity at 60%, helping keep fire behavior limited to smoldering and creeping. The clear skies and warm temperatures continue to dry fine fuels, especially in the lower elevation, possibly throughout the weekend.
Middle Fork Complex – Heavy equipment was moved to assist with line rehab between the Goat and Nellie fires and will be ongoing. Chipping has been completed on the 555 road and mastication is nearing comple on to ensure the 555 road is clear of debris within the fuel breaks.
Goat – Due to more accurate mapping the fires size was decreased by 9 acres. Firefighters continue to construct lines, protecting values at risk on the west side of the fire. Crews continue removing equipment and repair the indirect fire lines. Firefighters are using excavators installing water bars and line restoration. Back haul has begun for firefighting equipment.
Snag – Due to more accurate mapping, the fires size increased by 136 acres. Crews were able to complete line in the Warm Lake corridor, securing it to the Warm Lake Road. Suppression repair has been completed around the western, northern, and eastern sides.

Goat and Snag Fires - Suppression Repair = 17.3miles of handline completed. 27.4 miles of dozer line completed.
Firefighters con nue work both fire suppression and suppression repair as needed so heavy firefighting equipment is moving from site to site. Please use extreme caution while traveling, especially when approaching vehicles, and at intersections.

We ask the public to adhere to the closures as they currently exist; in particular, Trail Creek Hot Springs is currently within the closure area for the West Mountain Complex and is closed.
