Pintler RD Pile Burning Notification 04-17-2024

Beaverhead-Deerlodge NF Prescribed Fire Operations
Publication Type: Announcement - 04/17/2024 - 18:00

The Pintler Ranger District of the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest may implement prescribed fire operations (pile burning) in the Rally Way unit of the Lone Pone project area tomorrow, as weather and fuels conditions allow.

🔥 The Lone Pine project area is located due west of Georgetown Lake and 18 miles southwest of Philipsburg, MT. The Rally Way unit lies between Ross Fork Road and Moose Lake Road. Firefighters plan to ignite approximately 12 hand piles across three acres within the identified unit boundary.

Minimal smoke impacts are anticipated; however, smoke may be visible from Georgetown Lake and from Skalkaho Road. The pile burning operation will be implemented in compliance with Montana air quality standards and coordinated with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality and the appropriate county health departments to minimize the impacts of smoke.

For updates or more information, contact the Pintler Ranger District at (406) 859-3211.
