Lolo National Forest Prescribed Fire Operations

Pile burning will take place on the Plains/Thompson Falls Ranger District to help reduce hazardous fuels, a key component of the Wildfire Crisis Strategy.
Firefighters will conduct up to 30 acres of pile burning 5 miles south of Plains. Smoke may be visible from Plains. Hand ignitions will take less than one day to complete, and firefighters will monitor and patrol the burn over the next few days.
