Luccah Fire Update: January 28, 2000 hours
Location: Goliad County, west of Fannin along Hwy 59
Acreage: Estimated 2000 acres
Containment: 10%

Aerial and ground crews have made excellent progress. Fire activity has diminished significantly this evening with smoldering along the flanks and some heavy vegetation burning in the interior of the fire. Forward progression has been stopped. A Large Air Tanker (LAT) made two very beneficial retardant drops along the left flank of the fire. Heavy equipment is being utilized by Texas A&M Forest Service to secure containment line along the left flank of the fire. Engine crews from numerous local fire departments are working along the right flank to secure the fire perimeter and address any areas of concern. Ground crews will remain on scene working late into the night.

Weather Concerns: North winds will diminish overnight. Tomorrow, winds are expected to be light and variable out of the south with a low relative humidity of 22%.
