Pursuant to 16 USC § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Wenatchee River Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest (OWNF). This order supersedes Order # 06-17-07-22-12, dated August 17, 2022, signed by Forest Supervisor Kristin Bail. This Order is effective on September 1, 2022, and will remain in effect until December 31, 2022, unless rescinded sooner.
PROHIBITIONS:
1. Entering into or being upon National Forest System Lands closed for the protection of public health and safety, as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.53€].
2. Being on a National Forest System trail, as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.55(a)].
3. Being on a National Forest System road as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.54€].
CLOSURE AREA DESCRIPTION:
National Forest System lands within the following boundary: starting at the OWNF boundary in T. 27 N., R. 16 E., S.16 at the junction of Forest Service Road (FSR) 6500 Little Wenatchee and FSR 6700 Rainy Creek. Proceeding generally west along and including FSR 6500 to the end of the road at Little Wenatchee Ford Trailhead in T. 28 N., R. 14 E., S. 13. Proceeding north along Trail 1525 Little Wenatchee River to the junction with trail 1520 Poe Mountain, then proceeding generally east along and including trail 1520 Poe Mountain to the 6,022 foot elevation highpoint approximately 650 feet northeast of the trail junction with 1543 Little Wenatchee Ridge, then proceeding generally northeast for 2,500 feet to the headwaters of Cougar Creek at 4,800 feet elevation in T. 28 N., R. 14 E., S. 24, then proceeding along Cougar Creek to the confluence with Panther Creek in T. 28 N., R.15E., S. 17, then proceeding northeast along Panther Creek to the end of trail 1522 Panther Creek at the confluence of Ibex and Panther Creeks, then proceeding along and including trail 1522 Panther Creek to the junction with the trail 1521 Mount David. Then crossing to the east bank of the White River and proceeding generally north along the White River to the end of FSR 6400 at the White River Trailhead in T. 28 N., R. 15 E., S. 35, then following and including FSR 6400 generally southeast to the OWNF boundary at Tall Timbers in T. 28 N., R. 16 E., S. 18, then following the OWNF boundary to the west bank of the White River and continuing generally southeast following the White River or OWNF boundary to FSR 6500 at the OWNF boundary in T. 27 N., R. 16 E., S. 16.

EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
1. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire-fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
2. Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation Order), specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.
Violations of these prohibitions are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both (16 USC § 551; 18 USC §§ 3551, 3559, 3571, and 3581).
