Fire activity is minimal and firefighting resources have nearly completed “mop up” operations, extinguishing heat and hot spots within 300-400 feet from the control line to better secure it. These operations are very methodical and included “cold trailing,” where firefighters carefully inspect the fire perimeter area and feel for heat with their hands. Local DNRC engines will patrol the fire area periodically but regularly beginning Wednesday, October 23.
