On the afternoon of July 9, 2022, fire started 6 miles northwest. Fire is located in extremely difficult terrain, and very thick cedar and mesquite. Multiple local fire departments responded to assist, along with State resources from Texas A&M Forest Service (TAMFS) and Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS). TAMFS and Seymour Volunteer Fire Department are working in unified command.
