On Sunday July 3rd, shortly before 4:00pm The Texas A&M Forest Service was requested by Williamson County for assistance on a wildfire in the area of Pecan Branch, Florence, Texas. At the time of the request locals were on scene engaging the fire, and Travis County Starflight helicopter was doing water bucket drops.
The Texas A&M Forest Service is on scene and in unified command with the local fire department incident commander. On Sunday evening, aviation resources including 3 single engine air tankers, one helicopter, and air attack reconnaissance plane have been utilized. Heavy equipment prepositioned in Marble Falls is on scene and constructing containment lines to stop fire spread, and engine crews are protecting structures and mopping up.
