Texas A&M Forest Service is responding to a request for assistance on the Mustang Fire. The fire ignited the afternoon of July 15, 2022, north of Godley, Texas in Johnson County.

The fire quickly escaped initial attack efforts, prompting evacuations in the area. Johnson County Deputies are evacuating homes in the 9400 block of County Road 917 (Not FM 917). More updates can be found on their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/jocotxsheriff. All Evacuations have been lifted at this time.

Texas A&M Forest Service is working in unified command with the local jurisdiction. State resources include suppression aircraft, engines and heavy equipment.

Hot and precipitation-free conditions will continue through the next few days as temperatures today and tomorrow max out around 97 to 98 degrees. Minimum relative humidity values will remain in the lower to mid 30% with south winds between 5-10 mph. Overnight, lows will be in the mid 70s with relative humidity increasing into the upper 80%.
