 The Nina Lucia Fire started along County Road 273 approximately 6 miles southwest of the town of Maryneal. Texas A&M Forest Service (TAMFS) was requested and is working in unified command with local responders.

Heavy equipment was engaged on the ground to begin working the flanks of the fire while aviation resource made several drops to try and slow forward progression. Currently the Nina Lucia Fire is burning in heavy Brush and grass with a moderate rate of spread.

Breezy south to southwest winds will continue into this
afternoon. Wind speeds are expected to remain steady at roughly
15 to 20 MPH with gusts to 25 MPH. In addition, humidity values
of 90 percent at the start of the forecast will drop to a minimum
of 10 percent around 6 PM CDT. After this evening, recovery will
be a bit slow with humidity values hitting 40 percent at 10 PM
CDT. With regards to temperatures, our normal for this time of
year is 80 degrees. We will be well above that at 98 degrees this
afternoon.
