Wells fire started on March 17, 2022, 3 miles east of the town of Holliday. Multiple local fire departments responded to assist, along with State resources from Texas A&M Forest Service (TAMFS).  One home and 3 outbuildings immediately threatened local responders assigned to structure protection. No evacuations at this time. TAMFS dozers constructing control lines. TAMFS and Bowman Volunteer Fire Department are working in unified command. 

The fires burned extremely actively due to high winds. Responders were faced with low visibility and heavy brush.

Winds will continue to veer overnight from the northwest. Speeds will increase through at least 10 pm to around 40 mph gusts. They will slowly decrease toward sunrise but remain sustained around 25 mph with gusts near 35 mph through most of the morning. Expect fair to good recovery early Friday morning.
