(Dec. 30, 2022) – Firefighters plan to burn slash piles from multiple fuels reduction and hazardous tree removal projects on the Canyon Lakes Ranger District starting next week, as early as Tuesday, January 3, 2023, as conditions allow. Burning of these piles could take place throughout the upcoming snowy, winter months.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Nov. 29, 2022) – U.S. Forest Service firefighters plan to start work on seasonal slash pile burning this fall, winter and spring as weather and fuel conditions allow on the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests.
GRANBY, Colo.—October 22, 2019— Winter conditions are settling in over the Sulphur Ranger District of the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland, which means fuels crews will soon begin pile burning operations throughout the district.
NEDERLAND, Colo. (Jan. 11, 2017) – Pile burning activities around the Boulder Ranger District have gotten off to a great start this season thanks to plentiful snowfall. To date, firefighters have burned nearly 2,200 small slash piles and more than 85 large (machine built) slash piles. Pile burning in the Ridge Road unit that was part of the Sugarloaf Fuels Reduction Project is now complete. There are still about 22 large piles to burn in another one of our Sugarloaf Project units near Ridge Road and Alpine Drive. More snow is needed there before we can burn those.
GILPIN COUNTY, Colo. (Dec. 12) – Firefighters will take advantage of winter conditions this week to burn slash piles near Lump Gulch Road, approximately 5 miles west of the Peak to Peak Highway. Smoke may be visible.
GRANBY, Colo – (Dec. 9, 2016) Firefighters could begin burning slash piles on National Forest lands near Lake Granby this week as conditions allow. Depending on snow and smoke dispersion conditions, burning could occur in the Trail Creek Project, along County Road 41 and near the Bussey Hills Subdivision. This project was part of the Arapaho National Recreation Area Forest Health Project.
