Valley Fire Update 10-11-2024

Incident Activity: Containment grew thanks to hard work by firefighters on the ground strengthening containment lines on the fire edge. Crews were assisted by helicopter water drops from Lucky Peak Reservoir. A new incident map shows containment around most of the fire except on the northeast portion where the fire is burning in steep timber. Fire activity is still a safe distance from the community of Robie Creek. Crews remain in the south and west portions of the fire visible from Boise monitoring the area and extinguishing any remaining hot spots.

Incident Activity: Weather conditions were more favorable than expected Wednesday with steady wind that assisted firefighting efforts. There was an increase in fire activity and smoke in pockets of timber a safe distance from the community of Robie Creek. Helicopters were used to make continuous water drops to secure containment lines and support ground crews. Crews remain focused on the most active area of the fire in the north and northeast portion where the fire is closest to the Robie Creek community.

Incident Activity: Crews gained ground on the Valley Fire thanks to light winds that favored firefighting efforts Tuesday. Crews remain focused on the most active area of the fire in the north and northeast portion where the fire is burning in timber with smoke visible in the Robie Creek community. Dozers continue to work on indirect containment line today while hotshot crews further establish direct line close to the fire edge. Extinguishing hot spots and securing the fire edge is a priority as strong winds are anticipated.

Incident Activity: Nevada Team 2, a Nevada Type 3 Incident Management Team, took command of the Valley Fire at 7:30 p.m. Mountain Time on October 7, 2024. The team brings additional resources to continue successful firefighting efforts. The fire is under the jurisdiction of the Idaho Department of Lands and is a full fire suppression effort. Crews remain focused on the most active area of the fire in the north and northeast portion where it is burning in timber near Robie Creek residential areas. Fire containment has been successful on the west portion of the fire visible from Boise.
