Camp Creek Fire Update for Sunday, September 10 Fire Size: 2021 acres Containment: 28% Personnel: 534
In order to protect the heavily forested Bull Run Watershed from the Camp Creek Fire, firefighters have cut down trees. Sometimes it's because the trees pose a falling hazard that could injure firefighters. Other times trees are cut to create fireline wide enough to stop the spread of the fire. The Mount Hood National Forest and the Portland Water Bureau are working on a plan for repurposing the wood from those trees, and help area communities in the process.

Camp Creek Fire Daily Stats: 1,940 acres, 17% contained, and 593 total personnel. Weather and Fire Behavior:
While several hundred firefighters work long hours to contain the Camp Creek Fire, a group of people behind the scenes created and operate a place to make sure they are fed, fueled, and have a place to call home: Fire Camp. The Logistics Sections of the Incident Management Team was tasked with setting up two camps on this fire. The first of the fire camps is the Meadows base camp, which includes an on-site caterer, a covered eating area, and various yurts set up as temporary offices to hand out supplies, provide medical treatment, and house other support services.
If you live in an area prone to wildfires, one phrase you often hear is percentage of containment. A 95% contained fire sounds a lot more comforting than a 5% contained fire. But what does it mean?

Heavy machinery helps, but people power is essential out on the Camp Creek Fire, where firefighters are working to develop containment line.
