Highlights: Southwest Area Incident Management Team 4 assumed command of the Cody Fire at 6:00 am, May 22, 2025. The Team is honored to be able to support the Coronado National Forest and the Arizona State Department of Forestry and Fire Management in the suppression of this wildfire. We thank the local Type 3 organization for their efforts on this fire, which have set Team 4 up for success.
Fire Activity: Ground and aerial firefighting resources continued working throughout the day to keep the fire away from structures. Helicopters and air tankers worked throughout the day on Thursday and will be available for any support needed on Friday. On Friday, additional resources will work to increase containment across the fire area.
Evacuations: Pinal County has issued evacuation orders for the following:
GO Zones: 5/13/14/15/16/17/18/19.
SET Zones 1/2/3/4/6/7/8/9/10/11/12 and San Manuel residents.
Evacuation Centers have been set up at the Canyon Del Oro High School, 25 W. Calle Concordia, Oro Valley, AZ 85704, and at the Mammoth Community Center, 101 W. 5th St, Mammoth, AZ 85618.
Weather: Clear skies and light winds are expected over the fire area for the next 24 hours which will assist suppression efforts on the ground and allow helicopters and air tankers to operate all day.
Fire Restrictions and Closures: The following roads are closed - W American Ave and American Ave, open to local residents only. Additional closure at S Veterans Memorial Blvd towards San Manuel, open to local residents only. The Coronado National Forest has also issued Stage 2 Fire Restrictions which includes recreational shooting.
Safety: For public and firefighter safety, please avoid the area to allow fire traffic to work to contain the fire. As a reminder, If you fly a drone near the fire area, our aircraft will be grounded.
The fire area is under Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs). Individuals who have been determined to have endangered manned aircraft or people on the ground with a UAS and/or interfered with wildfire suppression may be subject to civil penalties, including fines of up to $25,000, and potentially criminal prosecution.
