Inn Fire Update – May 30, 2025

The Inn Fire is now 90% contained. Firefighters had another productive and effective day yesterday, continuing their work toward full containment. Today will be the final written daily update for the incident, though updates will continue to be posted on InciWeb as needed. The incident continues to downsize, and command of the Inn Fire will officially transition back to the local unit tomorrow.

Hotshot crews will continue working in the steep, rocky terrain on the west side of the fire to secure the remaining open line and mop up lingering heat sources that could threaten containment. Progress in this area has been slower due to the extremely rugged landscape. From its lowest point near Mono Lake, the Inn Fire climbed more than 3,000 feet in elevation—over half a mile vertically as it spread upslope into steep, high-altitude terrain. This dramatic rise added to the operational complexity of suppression efforts. Crews are completing suppression repair efforts as containment lines become available for repair.

Fire Weather Watch is in effect for tomorrow, with forecasts calling for gusty winds, low relative humidity, and the potential for isolated dry lightning. Please remain vigilant and stay informed of weather updates and local alerts.

The Inyo National Forest has issued a Forest Closure Order for the Inn Fire area as of May 27. This closure remains in place to protect public safety due to hazards like rockfall, loose soils, and burning stump holes. The closure will be reassessed regularly but will remain in effect until it is safe to reopen.

Drivers traveling along Highway 395 are urged to use caution due to ongoing fire operations and personnel in the area.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as firefighters work toward full containment.
