Inn Fire Update May 24, 2025
Acreage: 707 Percent Containment: 15%
Location: South of Mono City and North of Lee Vining, CA. West side of Mono Lake.
Cause: under investigation Structures impacted: 1
Summary:
As of 7:00 a.m. this morning, Nevada Type 3 Incident Management Team 4 has assumed command of the Inn Fire. The assigned Incident Commander is Danny Gallagher.
Yesterday, firefighters made solid progress on the eastern side of Highway 395, constructing and reinforcing containment line and conducting mop-up operations in previously burned areas. However the fire continued to push westward, creating multiple fingers and adding acreage. Dozer operations focused on extending containment line off Highway 395 to the west.
Fire behavior remains active and is burning upslope through dry fuels—conditions more typical of late June. This unseasonably early activity is challenging firefighters, but crews continue to aggressively engage the fire, while also working carefully around sensitive resources.
Power has been restored to the Bridgeport area, thanks to a power diversion from Lundy Lake Hydroelectric Facility. Officials hope to restore power to Mono City next, when it’s safe to do so.
Highway 395 remains fully closed in both directions for firefighter and public safety. Please continue to monitor updates from CalTrans District 9 and the Mono County Sheriff’s Office for road status and evacuation information.
