Firefighters on the Inn Fire continue to make steady progress. As of this morning, the fire is 15% contained, with containment efforts focused along the east side of Highway 395. On the north edge of the fire, containment has begun where completed dozer line extends from Highway 395 to the Mono Vista Spring area, supported by ongoing handline construction and hose lay operations to extinguish heat and secure the perimeter.
Yesterday, the Mono County Sheriff’s Office downgraded evacuations from mandatory to advisory, allowing for the repopulation of Mono City and the Lundy area. Power has been restored to the affected communities.
As of yesterday, at 8:00 p.m., Highway 395 has reopened with one-way traffic control between Lee Vining and State Route 167 during the hours 7:30 a.m – 7:30 p.m. Drivers are advised to use caution and watch for fire personnel and equipment working in the area.
Fire behavior has been minimal, with creeping and smoldering observed throughout much of the day. While growth has slowed, smoke may still be visible, especially during warmer afternoon hours. Crews continue to build and reinforce fireline, working in steep and rugged terrain to secure the fire’s edge and perform mop-up operations.
Despite the progress, there is still significant work ahead to increase containment. Firefighters remain committed to protecting life, property, and natural and sensitive resources.
Please continue to monitor updates from CalTrans District 9 and the Mono County Sheriff’s Office for the latest information on road status and evacuation guidance.
