**Snag Fire Daily Update 8-14-2024**

Yesterday, the Snag Fire’s northeast perimeter reached within 500 feet of the Warm Lake Highway. This triggered a decision-making point to deenergize the powerline along the highway. For safety, firefighters cannot engage in suppression tactics around live powerlines. Additionally, water drops via aerial resources cannot be conducted near energized powerlines. Residents can follow Idaho Power on Facebook for updates. The incident management team is focusing on the northern area of the Snag Fire, particularly the impacts to the Warm Lake Highway and structures in Horsethief and Warm Lake communities. As mentioned in previous updates, structure protection equipment is staged in these communities. More firefighters and equipment are expected to arrive and mobilize soon, and crews on the Wolf Creek Fire are shifting to the Snag Fire. The Snag Fire has been designated as a critical need by the Geographic Area Coordination Center (GACC) for firefighting resources. Night shift resources are also anticipated to expand, providing additional capacity for operations. Yesterday, fire activity on the Snag Fire was less intense than previous days. The fire continues to creep slowly downhill to the Warm Lake Highway. Some spots fires did occur over the highway, which firefighters quickly addressed. Last night, crews patrolled Warm Lake Highway, monitoring and addressing spot fires. Most of the fire's growth is to the northeast in a remote area with no structures.
