The Limepoint Fire did not add any new acreage yesterday and containment remained at 93%. The smoke that was visible yesterday evening was from interior fires that do not pose a threat to containment lines. Smoke from interior burns will likely be visible again this evening. Meanwhile, suppression and repair are making excellent progress. There will be continuous road grading operations throughout the fire area.

Salvaged timber operations are complete and all salvaged wood has been decked. The log decks are clearly marked and have been slated for a salvage timber sale. The wood is not available to the public.

The upper-level ridge and surface high pressure centered over the fire area will persist through Sunday, bringing clear skies and increasing temperatures. Today will see hot and dry conditions that continue through the holiday weekend, with temperatures trending warmer each day. Overnight humidity recoveries will be poor.

With Labor Day weekend upon us, all staff assigned to the Limepoint Fire wish the people of Idaho a safe and enjoyable holiday! We encourage the public to drive safely to and from home. For those planning on recreating outdoors, please consider having the Mountaineers Ten Essentials:

  1. Navigation
  2. Headlamp/flashlight
  3. Sun protection
  4. First aid
  5. Knife
  6. Matches/lighter
  7. Shelter
  8. Extra food
  9. Extra water
  10.  Extra clothes

Please exercise extra caution around the fire area, watching for fire equipment and personnel and observing the Forest Closure Order still in effect.

Evacuations: Cuprum remains at a Level 1 (READY) evacuation level.

Closures: The Forest Closure Order updated Monday, August 26, 2024, at 7:00 a.m. Some areas previously closed to the public have been reopened. For details about the closure, visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/payette/alerts-notices. There is still a lot of work being done in the fire area; for your safety and the safety of firefighters, please observe the existing Payette Forest Closures still in effect and watch out for firefighters and fire traffic.

Restrictions: Effective 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, Stage 1 fire restrictions were lifted. There are currently no fire restrictions in place, but visitors are reminded that vegetation is still dry and to be careful with all use of fire outdoors.
