The Gate 5 Fire is currently 13,343 acres and 95% contained.

Fire Weather: 
Hot and dry conditions will persist across the fire area today. Temperatures are expected to be in the high 90's this afternoon. Humidity is forecast to drop to around 30%, with Southeast winds around 8-12 mph. An isolated shower or thunderstorms is possible this afternoon, but most areas will remain dry.

Operations:
Crews will continue to patrol and mop up any hot spots close to the fire perimeter.

Fire containment is 95%, 13,343 acres. Crews were very productive today with patrolling and mopping up hot spots along the fire perimeter. Planned actions for tomorrow will be to mop up all hot spots close to the fire perimeter. Resources will begin to be released as the containment increases.

Hot and dry conditions will persist across the fire area today. Temperatures are expected to be in the high 90's this afternoon. Humidity is forecast to drop to around 30%, with Southeast winds around 8-12 mph.

Crews worked late into the night hitting hot spots while patrolling.
Daytime:
Dozer crews will continue to construct and improve containment lines. Engine crews will patrol and mop up along the perimeter. Aerial resources will be utilized where effective.

The Gate 5 Fire is currently estimated at 12,000 acres and 50% contained.

Fire Weather: 
Hot and dry conditions will persist across the fire area today. Temperatures are expected to be in the high 90's this afternoon. Humidity is forecast to drop to around 35%, with Southeast winds around 10-15 mph.

Operations:
Overnight:
Crews conducted burnouts to remove excess fuel between the containment lines and active fire edge and hit hot spots while patrolling.
Daytime:
Dozer crews will continue to construct and improve containment lines. Engine crews will patrol and mop up along the perimeter. They will also conduct burn outs where needed. Aerial resources will continue to be utilized where effective and assist with the construction of containment lines.

Fire containment is 40%, estimated 12,000 acres. Fire activity has increased significantly across the entire fire. Short runs and torching in heavy brush has been consistent throughout the day. The Colorado River continues to hold the fire to its South, as a natural barrier. Dozer crews continue to construct and improve containment lines. Aerial resources have been successful at dousing hot spots and assisting with the construction of containment lines. Engine crews are patrolling line, mopping up hot spots, and conducting burn out operations along dozer line to remove hazardous fuels between containment lines and the active fire edge.

Fire containment is 30%, estimated 10,000 acres.
Overnight, crews constructed containment and patrolled for hot spots.
Currently, the Gate 5 Fire is holding South of the Colorado River. Fire behavior is active and will continue to become more active as the day heats up. Additional resources will arrive throughout the day to assist with fire suppression. Controlled burnouts will be conducted to improve and strengthen containment line and remove excess fuels between the line and the active fire edge. Aerial resources assisting with the fire today: 1 Air Attack, 2 Heavy Air Tankers, and 3 Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs).
Weather forecasted for today is high temperatures reaching 100 degrees, humidity dropping to 29%, and SE winds at 10-12 mph.
Road closures: FM 765 between US Hwy 377 and US Hwy 283.

Fire containment is 30%, estimated 10,000 acres. The fire escaped containment lines due to extreme fire behavior and jumped FM 765. The Colorado River is now being used as a natural barrier to assist with containing the fire. Crews are still progressing with line production on all sides. Burn out operations are planned to remove fuel between containment lines and the active fire edge.
