The Lolo National Forest will continue to conduct prescribed fire operations on the Plains/Thompson Falls and Superior Ranger Districts today, as weather and fuels conditions allow.Plains/Thompson Falls Ranger District:  Firefighters will burn up to 30 acres of piles located 11 miles west of Thompson Falls. Smoke may be visible from Highway 471.

Yesterday was a successful day of prescribed fire operations across many of our districts, work will continue today, pending conditions. Missoula Ranger District: Fire managers plan to burn up to 45 acres of hand piles on the Granite Graves project located 2.5 miles up the Howard Creek Road.  Smoke may be visible from Highway 12. 

Missoula Ranger District: Fire managers plan to burn up to 66 acres of hand piles on the Granite Graves project located 3 miles up the Fish Creek Road.  Smoke may be visible from Highway 12. Ninemile Ranger District: Firefighters plan to burn 2 acres of hand piles at the District Office in Huson.  Smoke may be visible in the Ninemile Valley.  

Conditions permitting, pile burning efforts will continue today across the Lolo National Forest to reduce hazardous fuels from previous vegetation management operations. Missoula Ranger District: Fire managers plan to burn up to 57 acres of hand piles on the Granite Graves project located 2 miles up Graves Creek.  Smoke may be visible from Highway 12. 

Missoula Ranger District: Fire managers plan to burn up to 7 acres of hand piles on the Granite Graves project located at the junction of Granite Graves Creek and Highway 12.  Smoke may be visible from Highway 12. Plains/Thompson Falls Ranger District:  Fire managers may burn up to 30 acres 11 miles west of Thompson Falls.  Smoke may be visible from Highway 471.

Missoula Ranger District: Fire managers plan to burn up to 40 acres of hand piles on the Granite Graves project area 3 miles up the Howard Creek drainage. Smoke may be visible from Highway 12. Ninemile Ranger District: Firefighters plan to continue pile burn operations on the 7-acre Frenchtown Face project, located approximately 4.5 miles east of the Ranger District in the Sixmile drainage.  Smoke will likely be seen from Frenchtown and the surrounding area. 

Pending favorable conditions, firefighters on the Lolo National Forest are planning to conduct pile burn operations today to reduce hazardous fuels from previous vegetation management operations. 

Missoula Ranger District: Firefighters will continue burning up to 26 acres of piles located .5 miles east of Forest Service Road 33 and Howard Creek Road on the Granite Graves Shaded Fuel Break project.  Smoke may be visible from Highway 12.Prescribed fire is implemented in compliance with Montana air quality standards and coordinated with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality and the appropriate county health departments to minimize the impacts of smoke. 

Pile burning efforts will continue today across many districts on the Lolo NF to reduce hazardous fuels from previous vegetation management operations. Missoula Ranger District: Firefighters will continue burning up to 37 acres of piles at the junction of Fish Creek and Forest Service Road 33 on the Granite Graves Shaded Fuel Break project.  Smoke may be visible from Highway 12. 

Lolo NF fire and fuels staff completed 207 acres of pile burning yesterday across many of our districts, work will continue today and throughout the rest of this week, as conditions allow. Missoula Ranger District: Firefighters will continue pile burning up to 60 acres, 3.5 miles northwest of Lolo Hot Springs .5 miles south of Wagon Mountain and Howard Creek junction. Smoke may be visible from Highway 12.
