Quarter Fire Update 6232020 AM

Related Incident:
Publication Type: News

 Fire Information Line:  209-288-6312

LOCATION:  Stanislaus National Forest INCIDENT COMMAND TEAM: Stanislaus National Forest Type 3 ACRES: 15 PERCENT CONTAINED: 10% TOTAL PERSONNEL: 179   7 Hand Crews, 1 Helicopter, 4 Engines, 4 Dozers, 1 Water Tender

CURRENT SITUATION: The fire is holding at 10% containment. A recent reconnaissance flight showed minimal heat and smoke in the fire area. Last night, hand crews worked to complete a line around the perimeter of the fire, but because of the fire location and safety concerns they did not work after dark. Today firefighters will continue to improve and expand the line, the goal is a minimum width of 25 feet. Crews are trenching much of the lower line to prevent “roll outs” and potential spotting from burning debris rolling down slope and crossing the fire line. Hose lays from engines above the fire as well as pumps in the river on the bottom of the fire will provide water to fire fighters today. This will allow crews to fill portable backpack water pumps to treat hot spots and begin mop up efforts.

The Advisory Evacuation Order issued for homes off Forest Road 3N11 and the north side of Cedar Ridge has been lifted as of 6 p.m. June 22.

The Fire Incident Commander would like to again request that the public stay out of this area and all access roads to the fire to avoid interfering with fire crews and equipment supporting suppression efforts. Unfortunately, this has been an issue over the last two days, the public’s support is greatly appreciated. The safety of fire fighters and the public is our number one priority.

Demobing began today and the Incident Command Post is moving to the Mi-Wok Ranger Station.  The incident will continue to be managed by the Stanislaus National Forest Type 3 Team.

Weather conditions: Very dry conditions will persist throughout the area and temperatures near 100 degrees are expected to continue for the next several days.

Smoke Outlook for 6/25 - 6/26
Central Arizona - Central & Bush Fires

Issued at: 2020-06-25 10:06 MDT

Special Statement
Take caution for potential smoke impacts on recently opened Hwy routes near the fire, primarily at night and early morning hours.

Fire Information

Smoke Discussion
Moderate smoke can be expected in the Tonto Basin throughout the day. Morning hours may see smoke in all areas adjacent to the fire with the potential to impact urban areas primarily in low lying drainage's near the fire such as the Verde and Salt River valley and basin. From late morning into afternoon, winds are expected to increase and push smoke Northeast towards Heber-Overgarrd, Show Low and the Fort Apache Reservation. Smoke may settle below the rim from Show Low and disperse West toward Payson and further to the I-17 corridor. Afternoon into the evening will see breezy southwest winds in the Tonto Basin adding to dispersed impacts. Additionally, regional fires from the South may once again factor in the potential for light smoke impacts to the Phoenix metro area this evening.

Extended Outlook
The current pattern of predominate high pressure with South to Southwest wind will continue into the week and may again allow smoke to linger in the areas mentioned above This pattern is expected to continue through Saturday.
