Publication Type: News
CURRENT SITUATION: The fire held at 15 acres overnight. Today crews will construct direct handline around the fire perimeter where possible and safe. Dozers will continue constructing contingency lines to the south of the fire, near Cedar Ridge Subdivision. Last night dozers were able to open up additional access into the fire area, allowing engines and hand crews to get closer to the fire perimeter today. The fire is located in a very isolated area with limited road access.
The fire is located in the South Fork of the Stanislaus River approximately three miles upstream of the Lost Dutchman Mining Association property in the Grant Ridge (Forest Service Road 3N11) area. The fire is only burning on the north side of the river. The US Forest Service is working with Cal Fire resources to suppress the fire. Air support with both fixed wing and helicopter, will continue today to support ground efforts.
The fire has been managed as a full suppression incident from the start.
Structure protection is in place for residences in the area and an Advisory Evacuation Order was issued for homes off Forest Road 3N11 and the north side of Cedar Ridge.
Visitors are asked to stay out of this area and all access roads to the fire to avoid interfering with fire crews and equipment supporting suppression efforts.
A Type 1 Fire Incident Management Team has been ordered for the fire and is expected to arrive at noon today. Additional suppression resources have also been ordered.
Weather conditions: Very dry conditions will persist throughout the area and temperatures near 100 degrees are expected to continue for the next several days

Quarter Fire Update 6232020 AM

CURRENT SITUATION: The fire is holding at 10% containment. A recent reconnaissance flight showed minimal heat and smoke in the fire area. Last night, hand crews worked to complete a line around the perimeter of the fire, but because of the fire location and safety concerns they did not work after dark. Today firefighters will continue to improve and expand the line, the goal is a minimum width of 25 feet. Crews are trenching much of the lower line to prevent “roll outs” and potential spotting from burning debris rolling down slope and crossing the fire line. Hose lays from engines above the fire as well as pumps in the river on the bottom of the fire will provide water to fire fighters today. This will allow crews to fill portable backpack water pumps to treat hot spots and begin mop up efforts.
The Advisory Evacuation Order issued for homes off Forest Road 3N11 and the north side of Cedar Ridge has been lifted as of 6 p.m. June 22.
The Fire Incident Commander would like to again request that the public stay out of this area and all access roads to the fire to avoid interfering with fire crews and equipment supporting suppression efforts. Unfortunately, this has been an issue over the last two days, the public’s support is greatly appreciated. The safety of fire fighters and the public is our number one priority.
Demobing began today and the Incident Command Post is moving to the Mi-Wok Ranger Station. The incident will continue to be managed by the Stanislaus National Forest Type 3 Team.
Weather conditions: Very dry conditions will persist throughout the area and temperatures near 100 degrees are expected to continue for the next several days.

CURRENT SITUATION: The fire is now 10% contained. Today hand crews made good progress constructing fire line on the south side of the fire. Other crews were able to access the head of the fire and line construction will begin on this flank tonight or tomorrow morning. If crews continue to make good progress, fire line construction should be completed tomorrow morning before the heat of the day. Dozers made further progress constructing contingency lines to the south of the fire, near Cedar Ridge Subdivision.
Crews were also able create better access for engines and equipment today. Tomorrow crews will utilize hose lays from engines above the fire, and pumps on the bottom of the fire bringing water from the river to continue increasing the containment line width and for mop up activities.
The Advisory Evacuation Order issued for homes off Forest Road 3N11 and the north side of Cedar Ridge has been lifted as of 6 p.m. this evening.

Smoke Discussion
Moderate smoke can be expected in the Tonto Basin throughout the day. Morning hours may see smoke in all areas adjacent to the fire with the potential to impact urban areas primarily in low lying drainage's near the fire such as the Verde and Salt River valley and basin. From late morning into afternoon, winds are expected to increase and push smoke Northeast towards Heber-Overgarrd, Show Low and the Fort Apache Reservation. Smoke may settle below the rim from Show Low and disperse West toward Payson and further to the I-17 corridor. Afternoon into the evening will see breezy southwest winds in the Tonto Basin adding to dispersed impacts. Additionally, regional fires from the South may once again factor in the potential for light smoke impacts to the Phoenix metro area this evening.
Extended Outlook
The current pattern of predominate high pressure with South to Southwest wind will continue into the week and may again allow smoke to linger in the areas mentioned above This pattern is expected to continue through Saturday.
