Crews work to remove dense fuels along key holding features like this road. Often times the terrain is steep making it very difficult for the crews to work.

Firefighters working in dense overgrowth in the Black Feather Fire area. Fire crews are cutting and removing small saplings and other dense vegetation to continue improving areas along roads and other natural barriers. These barriers work to slow/stop the progression of the fire.

All these cleared branches and fuels have been placed in these piles and will be chipped.
As the Black Feather Fire was an emerging event, there was a significant amount of smoke coming from the fire. This image shows the smoke column from Sunday.

This night photo shows the Black Feather Fire on the first night, August 6, 2023. Flames can be seem as the fire consumed heavy down and dead fuels in the San Pedro Park Wilderness.
