Fire containment is 20%, 21, 043 acres. Acreage change is due to more accurate mapping. Yesterday’s mapping flight was estimated because of a lack of visibility through thick smoke and intense fire behavior.

The plan for today is to continue to hold, improve, mop up, and patrol containment lines. 2 heavy air tankers will continue to make retardant drops and 1 helicopter will make water drops where needed on the fire.
Overnight resources were successful at holding the containment lines. Multiple direct saves on structures were made during yesterday's shift. No additional structures were lost overnight.
Updated acreage will come after mapping flight is complete.

Fire containment is 15%, 23,922 acres. The increase in acreage is due to yesterday's fire growth and firing operations conducted to strengthen the containment lines. Fire behavior is very active with group torching in juniper and spotting. The fire continues to have high potential for growth. Crews continue to build direct fire line where possible and improve indirect lines to prepare for burn out operations when conditions allow it.

Fire containment is 15%, 18,500 acres. Fire crews have worked hard to strengthen the containment line on the east side of the fire in preparation for the expected wind shift out of the west tomorrow. Day shift will transition with the night shift to patrol and improve the fire line.
Expected Weather: South winds around 12 mph this evening increase to 15 mph with gusts around 24 mph around midnight. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible 1 AM to 8 AM CDT. Warm and moist conditions are expected overnight. However, dry west winds will develop mid to late Wednesday morning as surface trough moves through, with RH values falling below 20 percent around 11 AM. West winds around 15 mph with gusts to 24 mph can be expected Wednesday afternoon with minimum RH values around 10 percent. Winds will shift northwest late afternoon and eventually light north Wednesday night, with terrain influences becoming dominate.

The Holcombe Road incident has transitioned to a type 3 incident. The fire is now being managed by the Lone Star State Type 3 IMT in unified command with Crockett and Val Verde Counties.

Fire containment is 5%, 17,280 acres. Active fire behavior is observed and will continue throughout the day with long range spotting expected. Potential for growth is very high. Currently, 6 occupied residences and 50 outbuildings are threatened. Other threats include oil and gas infrastructure.
As of 0900 this morning, 1 RV and 3 outbuildings were reported as lost.
Additional resources continue to arrive to assist with the fire. There are currently 50 firefighters, 7 dozers, 24 engines and 2 air tankers.

Fire containment is 5%, 10,000 acres. Fire behavior has been extreme throughout the day with spotting on ridgelines out to 300-400 yards. Multiple structures threatened but crews are making good progress on point protection around the structures. There have been 3 direct saves on structures.
Overnight forecast of low relative humidity recovery and terrain influenced wind is expected to keep fire behavior active tonight.
Potential growth for tomorrow is high and extreme fire behavior is expected.
